We actively embrace multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through sustainable employment, gender equality in leadership, community participation, and combating hunger, we contribute to Goals 1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), 5 (Gender Equality), 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Our commitment to the SDGs drives positive change for individuals, communities, and the environment.

Job creation
We are committed to job creation as a means of empowering livelihoods. With over 5,500 individuals employed at the peak within our Group, we have consistently expanded to support sustainable employment opportunities and drive economic growth. By prioritising job creation, we provide individuals with opportunities to enhance their lives and make valuable contributions to their communities. Our growing workforce acts as a catalyst for both individual and collective prosperity. Our commitment to job creation extends beyond the organisation, as we actively contribute to the development of sustainable livelihoods in the regions where we operate by fuelling economic growth.
Training and development opportunities
In November 2022, we proudly launched our online training academy, which has already benefitted over 200 employees who have been granted access. In the year 2022, we allocated over R4m towards training and development initiatives. During this period, we awarded a total of 200 learnerships, 10 internships, and 15 bursaries, underpinning our commitment to supporting growth and learning opportunities.
Support to local communities
Over 5000 fruit bins were donated to local communities and other local agencies during the year 2022 as part of contributing towards No Poverty & Zero Hunger.
During Covid-19 period all excess citrus was donated to Western Cape feeding schemes. Donations were also made to Waitrose Foundation. Rebates from the donations are used to sponsor Languedoc crèche (Western Cape).
Gender equality and reduced inequality
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that transcends gender bias. We have a noteworthy representation of women in leadership positions, including female Board Members, C-Suite executives, and numerous female managers across our Group. Moreover, our dedication to supporting gender diversity extends to our engagements with farmers. Significantly, a substantial proportion, specifically 33%, of the farmers we collaborate with and provide support to are women who own and operate their businesses. This emphasis on inclusivity and empowerment aligns with our high level of compliance and achievement, evident in our Level 1 B-BBEE score. By actively promoting gender equality, we aim to create a thriving and equitable society.
Access to clean water
In line with our dedication to promoting the well-being and welfare of our people, we have taken proactive measures to ensure that they have unrestricted access to an ample supply of clean and safe water. To fulfil this commitment, we have implemented an initiative by donating JoJo tanks to our employees. These robust and reliable water storage systems serve as a crucial resource, enabling our them to conveniently and consistently access an adequate supply of water.
Collaborations with communities
Ensuring the active participation of local communities and employees, we have facilitated their ownership stakes in many of our farms. Moreover, we contribute to the growth of smallholders and emerging farmers by buying their produce and collaborating to establish fruitful partnerships.
